North Detecting Events, was established in 2021 with the aim of seeking new land with historical connection to make the digging experience one with a tangible goal, to find evidence of that documented history, have fun and to meet like minded folk.
The group was founded by myself Anthony Pickering in 2021. My main purpose was to create an environment where detecting can be done responsibly and on land that usually gets overlooked by larger groups by capping the numbers down, this also suits the farmers that don’t like large numbers,but makes the day more pleasurable for us the detectorists. I do however also have bigger permissions for large group digs in new areas. These will always be communicated before to make sure people are happy with larger numbered digs.
I’ve always wanted to be transparent about how the group is run as I’ve seen to many fraudsters and con men in the hobby, this is why i registered the company on Companies House as a ltd company, this means that anyone can see how I manage the funds year to year and the knowledge that tax is being paid.
The group has become a great success in its early days, and I’m thankful for the support of freinds helping me with the tasks to undertake making the group a success,plenty of unsung heroes.
From 2023 a membership fee will be implemented, however this will be reimbursed over a two dig scenario, reducing down your weekly fee to cover your membership, but I did make a decision that the group should be capped at around the 500 but has since grown to the 900 mark let’s leave it at that as not too get to big, paid members is also capped at 400 so everyone should get a fair chance at attending.
For the purpose of Audit, as sole director of North detecting events ltd, all land contracts and financial transactions are kept with in the control of myself (Anthony Pickering) and any communication regards this will be kept through myself. I will continue to adhere to any rules around ownership set out by companies House.
